Welcome to
Busy Beever's Workshop
I'm Jeffery Beever.
After serving in both the Afghanistan and "Iraqi Freedom" military campaigns, and enduring three head traumas—the last one so severe it put me in a coma and required surgery—I found a new path through the Wounded Warrior program. That’s where woodworking entered my life, and it quickly became my passion. But once I discovered pen making, well, almost all my other woodworking projects took a back seat.
Now that I’m retired, I can fully embrace this craft. My collection of special woods, each chosen for its unique grain and character, has grown quite extensive over the years. I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting species to turn into one-of-a-kind pens. While I occasionally work with man-made materials, my heart truly belongs to wood—and deer antler. The natural colors and patterns never cease to amaze me.
Every pen I create is a unique piece, carefully crafted by hand on my lathe, with no duplicating equipment involved. I spend a lot of time selecting materials that harmonize beautifully together. Though I lean toward classic, traditional designs, I like to mix things up now and then—because where’s the fun in sticking to the rules all the time? But no matter what, functionality comes first. A pen should be a reliable writing tool, but if it turns out to be a little piece of art too, well, that’s a bonus!
I can’t keep every style of pen in every wood in stock, so if you have a specific combination in mind, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to create a custom pen that’s just right for you.
Meet Wally. He's my shop assistant and helps with every pen and pencil I create.
